thanks Kyle, I just sent some screen shots, video, and a journal file for the perusal of the brain trust...

I guess we all have different definitions of badass, but I love the sentiment. Lots of journals and forums/sales/support escalations where we help out. I end up posting in there often when I'm helping you folks over here as well. Super technical and geeky conversation.

@Dave Jones, what happens when you select the "BIM 360" icon in the File Browser during the "Reload From" operation? Does it give you your list of C4R projects? If so, what happens if you drill into your active Project? Do you get the Model list then? If so, can you successfully reload your models?

there is no BIM360 icon in the Places pane (if that's where you are talking about?) but there is one called External Resource. When I click on that I get the BIM360 icon but when I click on it the file list pane is empty. Nobody home. Again, it's like BIM360 doesn't see any of my linked files. See this

Thanks for confirming. I'll pass this back to the brain trust.

So you officially stumped the brain trust, given the information we have available to investigate. We have looked at the Journal, correlated the service calls with the service-side logging, and we're seeing something we've never seen before. Your support tech should be setting up a time slot to screen share and figure this out, and our "jedi master" of C4R investigations on the product team will be part of it.

I don't know if I should be honored or afraid, LOL! I look forward to further contact as I'd like to get this resolved ASAP.

(Completely unsupported non technical support wild guess follows)

Its a bit drastic, but i would look and see what happens if you log in to the MACHINE with a different profile. Or... "temporarily" move your profile so it rebuilds, and then see what happens if you log in to it and try reloading that model.

Ive seen Domain Profiles do weird things with FlexLM before. I know this is entirely unrelated, but i would be curious what it would do.

an interesting thought but no dice. Created a new admin profile, logged in, started R2016 and got an error that I didn't have permission to use View Filter Manager some file or the other with a Save dialog. Hit Save, back to the error dialog, endless loop. Hard shut down the computer, started in the new profile, uninstalled VFM, started R2016 fine, tried a Reload From and it's the same, nothing shown in the BIM360 file pane (or maybe that should be "pain"). Thanks for the thought though!

Update to this issue: this morning I had the thought to access BIM360 with my laptop which I don't use often as I don't travel often. But it did have R2016 installed on it. So, I installed C4R v9 and after having to deal with an hour of MS updates and virus software updates I was finally able to log into BIM360 and access the project. Did a Reload From to replace an old linked file with a newer version without an issue. So, this is not a BIM360 or project issue, it's something wrong with my Revit install/configuration in my desktop computer. I guess my next step is to reinstall R2016 and C4R v9. But first some research to figure out how to completely remove R2106 without affecting my other Revit installs (2015, 2017, & 2018). No money to be made today I'm afraid

Update for this issue: Did a complete uninstall and reinstall of R2016, R2, R2 Update 7, and C4R which contains R2 Update 8. Fired up my BIM360 project and Manage Links/Reload From is working perfectly. Reinstalled all of my 3rd party apps and left the office. Next morning, fired up the project again and now ML/RF is not working again. I'm right back to where I started. So, I copied all of my apps to Temp folders and started adding them back one at a time. Turns out the culprit is Trimble Field Points which is rather head scratching as I have had it installed in R2016 for, well, since I originally installed R2016. But now I can put the TFP files in the Application Plugins folder and ML/RF doesn't work. Move them to a temp folder and ML/RF works fine ??? I've got a support email into Trimble. BTW, Autodesk support was exceptionally helpful regarding this issue over the last few days. This is the first time in 27 years of using Adesk products that I have had to file a support ticket. I'm pleasantly surprised by their fast and well versed help. Thank you Andrea Johnston and Kyle (see above) from Autodesk C4R support!
