    Connecting multiple Revit Servers?

    Hello:

Currently we have a Revit server running 2012 for a shared project between two offices. We have purchased another server for another shared project and plan to use Revit Server 2012 on it as well. Is it possible to connect to both servers at the same time, or do we need to disconnect from one and reconnect to the other one when working on the other project?

    Thank you.

Its possible in 2013 to have more than one Host declared. But you also dont need a seperate RS for each project...

We debated the additional server and decided for reliability / peace of mind to get a second server. Water under the bridge... kicking dead horses, etc...

One project is in 2012, on it's own server and about to begin construction. We are starting an entirely new project that will get placed on it's own server and several of us will be jumping between the two projects. It's no big deal to have to unconnect from the one server and reconnect to the other one, but it'd be nice to just be connected to both servers.

With Revit Server 2012, you will need to switch back and forth by changing the Revit Server Local in the Collaboration tab. Revit Server 2013 replaces the Local server with an Accelerator. Both are cache servers. The Revit Server 2013 accelarator can connect to multiple Revit 2013 Servers (Hosts).

One thing to watch out for is to avoid connecting to too many Host servers.
Just like model links, too much of a good thing is bad. If you have multiple Revit Server 2013 connected, Revit 2013 has to query each server for specific tasks, e.g. model open....
