That did it. Create the new directory in Program Files and delete the shortcut in the program data directory (RVT2014 instead of RVT2013).

That's great Dzatto! Always good to have a win. We have just finished the Stramit package so I was keen to know how you went. Good to see that 2014 is friendly to the new file. If you have any ideas for improvements let me know. I've been looking at thermal properties on materials, I haven't added any yet but will look at soon.

I haven't tested it yet, but will it work if I put the files on a network location? Does the .acadlib file need to be edited? It worked great at home, since it's local. But, at work, I'd like to put it on the network if possible.

Also, on the Stramit link, there's 3 downloads. Which one is the latest (for 2014)? I'm assuming the top one?

    Hi Dzatto
The current package wouldn't work on a network drive. I'll do some thinking on how it might work.
Sorry about the confusion the Stramit package, the bottom 2 are the most up to date 2013. I relabel the top one to 2014.
    Cheers

    Hi Everyone

I have managed to work through the process of networking the material libraries. The process uses the existing files so you don't have to download them again. I've tested them on Windows 7 and 8 operating systems with Revit 2013.
I've attached a document that runs through the process. If you have any problems please add to this Thread so others may benefit from your feedback. It is possible to use Dropbox to access the images, let me know if you think this has merit.

    regards
    Richard

Ahh needs to be admin. I'll have to talk my IT guy into doing this for me. I'll let you know how it goes (if he even lets me do it, that is).

    Hi dzatto
Yes admin rights are needed. As far as I can tell XP does not support the mklink command, there seems to be some workarounds but I haven't covered them in the document. Windows 7 & 8 both work fine with the mklink command.
    regards

    Hi Elton

We haven't tested it yet but I think 'dzatto' did with the 2013 package and it worked. If you don't have any luck let me know.

    cheers
