    Mirroring Beam system elements

Is it possible to mirror elements in a beam system?
I have roof decking which has been modelled in a beam system which i added to one roof slope but when i tried to mirror it i get an error message 'cant mirror element into this position'.
Does anyone have a solution, or am i faced with modelling the opposite slope.

If the beam system is attached to a roof slope then you need to mirror the roof too so the mirrored system is attached to something.

On the other hand, if you detach the beam system from the roof and walls, etc., then you can mirror it without other components "interfering". When I model components from scratch, i try not to leave them connected or "bound" to other components unless I intend on doing so from the beginning.

Thanks for the advice, being new to Revit and given the fact that the decking family was created by someone else I am not sure how to detach the decking from the structure other than unpinning is that what you mean?

That's one step to detaching it, depending on the type of beam system it is. It might have a criteria under the properties pane that says "Room Bounding" which you should turn off and not check the box. If it doesn't have that parameter, then click on "Edit Type" and see if you can disassociate it from any other objects, or right click on the beam system itself and see if there's an option for "Do not allow join". If you want more specific help, then post your beam system family here, and I can try experimenting on my end.
