    Linked files updating

Hi, we have a question about the functioning of linked files, searched and asked everywhere but until now we don't have the answer we need.
We have a project with about 22 linked dwg's and 3 linked Revit files.
What happens when a linked file gets "updated" ??
Is there a mechanism that lets the original Revit file know that the linked files are edited?

Usually you manually reload the linked files. Easy.
For this project we use Globalscape WAFS and every time the cental file gets synchronised we see that the linked files are resizing the central-file thus triggering the WAFS to resend the file.

Revit won't automatically reload the link if the file is updated during the current session. It will reload the file when opening the file for the first time, and you will receive a co-ordination review warning if monitored items have changed

If you want notification of changes to Revit links, look into the work sharing monitor along with bluestreak

Bluestreak will only notify of saves, not link updates you would still need to do that yourself.

    Thanks guys,
thought so. Just strange that whilst a sync the central file receives an update.
It just might be another proces disturbing things.

We do not use Bluestreak, consumes too many ports to be set open in our firewall.

"Our architectural model has a linked structural model whose path is set to relative. Its reference type is overlay.
The structural consultant updates their model every week and it is sent to us through our ftp site / dropbox. "

When we reload the structural model, we do not see the latest structural model but an older model.
Removing the link and re linking fixes the problem but I don't see that as a solution.

Have you heard of this kind of problem faced by any of your users? I have tried looking it up on blogs but did not find any solution.
Please reply if you have a quick solution. Is there anything we are missing? A version difference?
