How to create own family: C channel as column

    Dear All,

I had problem in creating steel C channel as column. I had actually created a c channel as column, but
I can't place this c channel family into the level which I desired when I placed it, it will always place at 1st storey.
My C Channel sizes is C30030 in metric size, attach the family which I created. kindly let me know what happen to my family, have I missed any setting.

You want to lock the top and bottom of your extrusion to the lower and uppper lever referance planes.

    2 Ways of doing this:

    1. In your family, go to elevation view. Select the extrusion. You will see blue triangles appear (shape handles). Drag them away form their current position and back until the ref plane lights up. Release and a lock key icon should appear. Lock it. Do the same for the other ref. plane.

    2. Activate the align command and lock the bottom and top extrusion ends to the corresponding planes.
