Wall Family creation structure version 2005

I am working on a self training model of a multi-story industrial building with wall and roof covering of sheet metal steel panels. There are no sheet metal wall or roof panel families in the library. I can't find any sheet metal panels on the web that are compatible with version 2005. I am trying to make a wall family of a sheet steel panel, but I can't figure out how to do this.

I have is a Ref Plane view of the panel cross section I drew: front, back, left and right and a 3d view of the section.

I want to make a 3d extrusion of the cross section and make it into a solid panel. When I try to extrude the section it doesn't work. I try to select the lines of the x section but they don't turn red, so they are not selected. I can't make a front or back view depth to include outside the work plane. Can any one tell me what to do? (other than stop banging my head.)

You can hack the curtain wall tool to do what you need. I use it for metal roofing all the time.

There are a number of threads discussing metal panel walls & roofs (also standing seam) if you search.

    Thanks Cellophane for your reply.
I down loaded the file and tried to open with my 2005 version but your file is too new to open. By any chance you have a old 2005 version of the file that you can send me?
My next try yesterday was to create planes for the end of lines at intersection of two lines which together form the shape of the sheet steel wall panel. There are about 20 reference planes for the top cross section of the panel. This did not work to make a extrusion of the cross section to form the wall panel. I have a book, "Mastering Revit Structure 2010" which has a section showing how to make a new family object which I used as a reference. Since it is for version 2010 I'm not sure I follow the instructions as given.
