    Rotating an extrusion

I am new to revit family creation. I need to be able to rotate a family in all planes. I created the extrusion using reference lines only. When I flex without the extrusion it works perfectly fine. With the extrusion, not so good. When i lock my extrusion to the reference lines it will flex with the width and length parameters, but not rotate. I attached the file. Hope someone can help me.

Welcome to the forum (and to the family editor). There is a recent post with the same topic and title. Please use the search function before posting. Please refer to: http://www.revitforum.org/architectu...extrusion.html

But then, what's the point of starting a new thread with the same topic? Sorry that the advice in that other thread did not work for you, but starting a new thread is not going to make any difference.

Sorry, to offend you, but not all situations are the same. I followed the steps, (word for word), creating the family in a separate family and loaded into the family with the angular parameter. Set the workplane to the the reference line. I probably should have commented on the thread already created. Sorry about that, but once again I am new the forum, and am learning the proper procedure. Thank you for the help.

The second paragraph of post #6 in that thread contains the instructions. What in that workflow didn't work for you? You must have missed a step somewhere.

Hi and welcome to the forum! I don't thing that Alfredo was offended, he was just giving you some posting etiquette guidance As you have now surmised, if you find a thread with a similar problem to what you are experiencing and what has been posted there doesn't work for you the thing to do is add a post to that thread with additional information like, what my family is trying to do, how my family is different than those previously posted, etc. Give the original thread posters a chance to figure out why you are having problems. I'm not a rotation rig expert so haven't looked at your posted family but I'm sure you'll get a lot of responses tomorrow when the long weekend (in the USA) is over...

edit: OR, Alf will help you fix it today

That's true. Only those who didn't have any special plans for this long weekend are still here.

I never have plans for weekends. Long or short.

The only thing I can think of that I may have done different was that I am trying to rotate in left view. So, I went back, and tried to follow the directions again that you posted, using plan view. I rotated the loaded family, and then edit work plane, and picked the reference line. The extrusion is not rotating with the reference line with the locked angle parameter.
