    beam pocket

i found a very old thread on this so i created a W steel family with a beam pocket with some parameters

question 1: i noticed the overall length parameter dissappears when i load this family into a project

question 2: would i have to make every beam size with voids i notice if i load the W steel structural framing i dont get those sizes on the beam pocket family i created

Make void family and cut pocket, otherwise steel beam not get correct elevation because pocket above steel beam.

elevation works just fine just adjust the beam pocket depth

doing this for when u have to make alot of them the method u suggested is alot more time consuming when u have more than a couple
