    Conceptual Massing

    Hello everyone,

I am trying to Mass model a fairly complex geometry. I think I am on the right path but the execution is off. Basically its a slopping canopy section with different depths on each side (see attached). so far i have tried a form element on each side, then join them together which did not cut the tops off that intersected, i then tried leaving them short and running a sweep around the corner piece only to get the "self intersecting geometry" error. i then tried a sweep of the large side and then adjusting my path to line the shorter side up, which didn't give me the result i wanted. I then tried sweeping the smaller side and then adding an additional form to the larger side to get it to the desired size, but I am not able to adjust where the transitional angle is on the sweep, which is critical. Does anyone know what I am missing? Click image for larger version.

I would not say that is complex geometry. Seems that you could do that orange part with a simple roof by footprint. No? Or even with a floor with edited points.

Roof by footprint with shape editing is what I would have done. Would take about five minutes to do that way.

I need it to be a mass model, i place components on a the grid and have a custom built software to flatten my panels off the grid. my next best option would be to set up work planes with reference planes and create forums that way

Maybe just place 6 points and create the faces.

"L" Shape sketch in plan, Create Form, edit individual vertices (edge), move down to create the slope.
