    Project finally open

4 years of life on this one and it finally opened today. I'm very excited that I'll get to see it this weekend and get a feel of the space first hand.

Looks great! My only real question: What are the acoustics like? With so many hard surfaces it looks like an echo chamber Real reason I ask - when I first got to school they had just opened up a new library and it looked nice but had a 5 story lobby with marble floors & lots of non-sound dampening materials. It was horrific

Man, opening weekend was crazy busy. Even worse with kids in tow (one in a stroller).

It was designed for "fun at the lower levels and seriousness at the top". Main floor and half way to the second floor (which has the children's area) was loud. 3rd and fourth was surprisingly quiet considering everything happening on the main floor. At one point they had opera singing in the central atrium on the main floor and you couldn't really hear it on the perimeters of the 3rd and 4th floors.

Even though most floors have architectural exposed concrete, each bay (between girders and beams) have acoustic baffles near the underside of slab.

Once the "newness" wears off and it has a normal amount of people using the building, it'll be nice. If you need to get away from any noise, head to the 4th floor.

Old school (which are currently on display at the library) or Revit?
