    schedule: calculating ordertotal with spares

    Dear all,

This is a tricky one. I am currently making productionsheets for parts and I want to incorporate spares. For example: I need 570 brackets, but I want to order 600pcs. So I added a parameter "spare" to my schedule, and want to make a calculated parameter "ordertotal=count+spare" Alas…. that's not the way it works. I don't want to clutter my model with extra parts, so I would like to keep this a parameter thing. What would be the best way to archieve this?

    Regards,

    ron

A Calculated Value (there is no such thing as a Calculated Parameter, unless its built in to the bracket Family itself) can do exactly what you are after.

You just need to decide the mathematical formula for how many spares you want. If you JUST want to specify a fixed number for spares (and not use a formula which may make the value change) you can do it, but it takes some trickier math in the Calculated Value.

Hi Aaron, thanks for the reply. I get your point, and what has to be done, has to be done. I was hoping for an easy way to add a number to my total, without the math.

    Regards,

    Ron
