My 'Container' (where i am sheeting up) keeps loosing annotation.

I understand that this is quite a common problem.

I have broken the project down to 6 revit (2016) files

    1-Facade
    2-MEP
    3-Podium
    4-Residential
    5-Topography

These files all link into the container file. In this file all sheeting up is done. its the place where all the team add there dimensions/tags and any other generic annotation.

It got to the end of the day yesterday and one team realised that all of there annotation had gone from there sheets!!!!.... we have been struggling with this for a while and am yet to find a solution.

I have seen that saving and reloading before synchronizing is the way forward. Just wanted to know if there are any further precautions we can take to lock the information in place. Almost sticking a 'Pin' in it.

Its a very large project with a team of 10 users.

    Any Help with this.

    Thanks

    RT

    HI RT

try to do your annotation in the links, and in RVT Links, set view to By Linked view and select the plan in question

Certainly works Well for plans, I;'ve never applied it to Elev's & Sections, I'm sure someone here has though.

View naming in linked files needs tidy

Annotating to elements in a linked file is a workflow guaranteed to make people want to work somewhere else.

Having all your annotation vanish isn't much better!

Documenting (and printing) from the file the work is in will lead to more happiness in the short and long terms.

There is a time and place for that work flow. When your computers are powered by underfed hamsters, the wheel is a potato and you're trying to make enough money to purchase proper equipment. Then and only then is it viable. But only when both the model and the annotation file is being controlled by the same people sitting side by side so all coordination can be done with ease.

I know, I've been there. Trying to handle a model that's 400+MB and an annotation file that's 180MB with a i5 3450 cpu, 8GB of DDR3 RAM and a Radeon 7570 GPU was not fun. Trying to do them combined taught me to invent new profanities on a daily basis.

Sorry... why are you using an "annotation file" when you can (arguably should) annotate in the 400+mb file? That file size is my new norm!

Yes, you need a new computer and more RAM.
