Detail Items not showing in callouts?

Hey, really hope I'm not being stupid here.

I can't get detail items to show up in callout views. That's literally any family that appears under the 'Detail Items' heading, which is kind of annoying because the whole point of the callout is to do a detail. They will place, but revit always comes up with a warning box that says 'Element not visible in plan view' - similar to when an offset makes something like a column or ceiling invisible in a certain view. Detail items have been used in drafting views with no issues, but this detail kind of has to be based on the plan. Things I've tried, with no success:
    • Detail level (set to fine)
    • Visibility graphics (everything is selected and should be showing)
    • Creating a plan region with no offset from the plan (no joy)
    • Creating a detail callout rather than the normal plan view callout (same)

Detail lines, filled regions, insulation etc all show up with no problems, but there's quite a lot of this drawing that I have neither the time nor patience to draw out with a million detail lines (steel shutter roller guide sections etc). Can anyone help?

    Thanks a lot...

    Thanks for the reply.

Sorry, but no, it would take more time to clean it up (VERY big file) than it's probably worth.

Pretty sure it's none of the 33, I'm aware of that list, but thanks for the thought. In the end, I managed to find a separate CAD version of the area in question which I could insert into a drafting view and then work over. So that's a solution of sorts, I suppose.

Still no idea why they weren't showing up, but it's no longer urgent...

You're sure it's not a filter? You can have an element category turned on in visibility graphics, and you'll still get the "Element not visible..." error if there's a filter that (for whatever reason) is turning off detail components in that view.

Have you tried turning of crop region? perhaps they're being placed outside of it.

@RossKirby - I was having same issue and it was a filter. Good call.
