    Demolition and Design Options

I haven't used Design Options much because it seems kind of cumbersome for anything complicated as far as plan schemes. One of the issues I have is with demolition. Let's say I want to lay out two different floor plan schemes for an addition/remodel. The demolition for those two schemes will be different. I can't figure out how to make that work with Design Options. I seem to be forced to accept one demolition layout or the other. How are people using Design Options with demolition assuming that the demo will be different for each option?

    Thanks.

Assume that I have design option A and design option B. When, finally, one of the two design options is chosen, then I take care of showing a demolition plan. But why would I care about a demolition plan for each option if only one is going to be used? After a design option is chosen, I would show setup views in phases: existing and new construction, showing also a demolition plan.

I understand that the demolition plan will come after an option is selected. That's not the issue. The issue is that while I am laying out design option A I need to demolish some walls to make that option work. However, for design option B those same demolished walls need to remain. If I un-demolish THOSE walls they show up again in design option A. Does that make sense? I don't care about the demolition plan at this point but I do care about walls that may not be demolished in both options.

never tried this, so I don't know if it really work with phases, but if I understand right, I would create a DO set called DEMO.
then create 2 options A and B; then cut/paste elements in each option.(you don't need to keep concerned elements in the main model).
after that, I would work in the option A and assign phases to elements; and do it also in option B with different choices.
you will be able to keep only one option at the end.
give a try and tell us. Good luck.

you just need to include the existing walls in the design option set - both Option A and Option B. Then you can demo whatever you want in each design option.

phasing works the same way in DO as it does in the Main Model. So just put everything in the area you're working on into your DO Set and then when editing A demo what is needed to demo there, and then go work in option B and everything will be back to the existing layout until you demo elements there.
