    Revit to Lumion / Pixelated

    Hi everyone,

I’m testing Lumion with a high resolution graphic card (Geforce 1070). I usually import files from Revit 2017 using the higher resolution available and still, my building looks very pixilated (while trees and objects added by Lumion are not). This tends to be more evident when using ornaments (you can see that in my photo)

    Thanks a lot

Your screen shot shows that you are in "build" mode, and thus you can´t expect a perfect resolution. However, you may be able to crank it up a little if you play with the settings.

    Thanks Munkholm for your reply

I've actually set up the editor resolution to 100% and in play mode the resolution is quite the same. Do you think is related to revit or to how I import the files from there? Because all that I've done with lumion looks great while the actual revit model is quite disappointing.

In any case, as a Lumion user, do you feel that the resolution that you see in my photo is normal or is there actually a problem ?

    thabks a lot

    A quick update,

I think actually the main problem is that the shadow is not linear, it should be in this case but its not. I was able to soften it up editing it on photo mode but I think is not normal. In any case is the first time I see this in bulid mode

Any help will be highly appreciatted

I am just using a trial of Lumion 8.3 and I have seen the same jagged shadows in some models in Build mode, usually when a line such as a gutter is near horizontal.

However when rendered the shadows appear fine.

Yeah, that is just Lumion's way of reducing computer resources in build mode. If it happens in Photo of Video mode on the output image or video do some research on Lumion's shadow correction and range.

    Thanks 'Kid'

I've noticed that there are quite a few things Lumion probably runs pixellated or slightly fuzzy - cloud reflections for example, or jerky animation to minimise resources - possibly even the moiré patterns on roof tiling in this screenshot - I was a bit concerned that these would remain when rendered but the output is extremely good quality even at modest resolution settings (see link to Vimeo video):

Yeah, ever since the release of 8.0 (which, to be fair, increased the quality immensely) the build mode and render preview are pretty different from the output results.... Which I am okay with haha!

I do a lot of live design reviews and have found "build-space" lacking due to the issues described above. The photo view is no better. The renderings are fine, but that doesn't cut it when walking through a space with a client. Quick samples attached.
