    VR vs. Still image

Is the "still image" render dead? Everywhere I turn it seems like Google Cardboard has the advantage when it comes to user experience. Why settle for a single still image when for $15 you can "be there"!

    Not by any means.

I would go so far as to say the market, at least here in the UK, (for high quality static) viz.) is growing.

These VR & AR toys are all good fun - and work in-industry well, but the outward-representation (of work, to the wider lay audience) still very much lives in the fixed-image form of printed and online media.

Agreed. Until VR technology catches up as far as quality and representation still images are where its at. I don't know about anyone else but I am still extremely disappointing in the image quality of the VR goggles out there ...

It is also pretty difficult to use a VR/AR image on a construction fence sign - although it could be really cool... hrm. time to do a little research.

I'm with TheRevitKid on this one... Haven't you seen these?!? I only WISH our fence signs could be as cool.

So maybe just a shift away from focusing on still images but I see some good points on why you'd still need stills. <-- pun

Why not both? You've got the scene set-up for the still... render THAT, then switch your camera out for a 360 lens and render the same image but in 360. I've raised eyebrows with clients by showing the still image then handing them a Cardboard with the full scene. You make them happy, THEN you blow their mind.
