Has anyone been able to create the Cloud Rendering settings in 3dsmax?

I think the quality of the cloud rendering for revit is actually pretty good. we use it fairly often in my office to get quick visualizations done. However, sometimes we need to take it to the next step, and it's good to have all of the z-buffer, alpha channel, reflection and lighting channels that you can quickly get out of 3dsMax.

So i was wondering if anyone has figured a good semblance between the too so that the transition isn't a big leap as we move through the project.

Which part of the transition are you talking about that is a big leap? Are you using Mental Ray in Max? In my opinion the only reason to jump over to Max is if you plan on using another render engine (like V-Ray) ... Yes, you get the channels and render elements but I find mental ray and the cloud to be very similar...

i'm referring to transitioning from cloud rendering to mental ray / max rendering. my guys can quickly get a pretty good rendering out of the cloud and put those before the client, but for larger renders and animations the costs start to get really high in terms of credits. we have a backburner renderfarm setup in our office with 40-50 machines and it'd be great to utilize it for free and achieve the same look. (as well as get the added channels for post-processing tweaks)

Well, if that's the case, I have found the Revit cloud rendering and Mental Ray can produce similar results. As with anything in 3D Max it is all about the settings... Once you get something you like (a render setting for example) save that preset. I even save screen shots of my VRay render settings sometimes... You never know!

Considering we don't really know or have much control over the cloud Rendering engine it will take some effort to get Max settings close. I would imagine if you get it once you can use that as a starting point each time to lesson the effort...
