    In Place Mass Rendering Problem

I am trying to render a massing model. I want it to look like a colored acrylic model but, when I render it, the colors refract in an unusual way and it gives off a spraypaint effect where colors do show through.

Has anyone seen this before? Any transparent material I use does this, whether is be generic mass, glass, etc.

    All help is really appreciated.

What is that blue material glowing? Is that a self illuminated material? Also, can you show some screenshots of what you are trying to create (an example image) as well as a screenshot of your current material settings?

The glowing material is self-illuminated, but the problem was the same regardless of this setting.

Attached are three concept images. I can't seem to find rendering that show what I'm trying to render.

I have also attached two screenshots of my each material's settings.

    Thanks for your help!

First, I would refrain from using self illumination for this case. Revit has a funny way of treating self illuminating objects and usually ruins the shading.

Second, this is a major major tip for materials in Revit , always try to start with a similar material. Getting custom generic materials to work the way you want is super difficult. With that in mind... I started with a clear plastic material in Revit. Attached are my results... The first is Rendered native in Revit and the other is using Autodesk 360 Render Cloud rendering...

I guess I shouldn't have used a white background and floor...

I also attached the sample file so you can see the material settings.... The material is called "Mass - Acrylic"

I also did not post-process any of these... A little photoshop and context could go a long way with these....

If we are going to submit it... I might as well add some detail and post-process it a bit...

Now you're just showing off. At least tell them it took you months of hard work to get it the way you wanted.
