    Nevin - My renderings

Just a few of my renderings. We don't really have clients paying for renders so these are just a couple I have worked on in my own time.
If anyone has any tips please feel free to share.
    Cheers,
    Nevin

Good looking stuff! I like the attention to detail - things like the drive markings & vase of flowers really add a lot. Did you render in Revit or something else (Lumion, 3DStudio)?

Some comments off the top of my head:

    • You don't have curbs. Your sidewalks are up from the drive but it's a hard edge. Adding a curb will help. If your sidewalk is a floor you can use a slab edge pretty easily as long as it is a flat site. If you start getting slopes there are other ways to do it.
    • Is the sky in the first image a map or one of the OOTB backgrounds? Personally I hate trying to get a good sky for shots like that. They always look so saturated compared to the rest of the shot.
    • The sky through the window of the second image is hyper saturated - no clue how to fix it =/
    • Your wall sconces in the night scene are a little too hot compared to the rest of the image. It will help to tone them down a little and adjust the color from a bright white to a more yellow light.
    • I really like the background in the night shot.
    • Your ceiling lights in the night shot look like they are embedded in the ceiling and aren't rendering quite right. They have a hotspot around the fixtures but then the fixture is a black void.
    • The globe on the ceiling in the last image is a little hot but otherwise I like it a lot.

In general your composition is good, you have lots of little details that add life to the scene and the renderings are well balanced from a color and saturation standpoint.

Thanks for your input. Its always good to get notes from others, a fresh pair of eyes.
All of these renderings were done using Revit.
As we don't have clients paying for renders I haven't got any justification for buying other programs that render better.
I have played with 3Ds but haven't been able to master it. More time spent using it would probably help this but i no longer have access to a copy of it.
    Thanks again.

They are even better considering they are native Revit. Did you do a lot of post processing?

I do a little bit, just brightness & contrast, & sometimes I play with the saturation. Other than that, no.

Where are you getting the trees and bushes from? They don't look quite like RPCs to me.
