    Texture map

    All,

I am rendering a custom texture mapped 'expanded metal mesh' panel.
but final rendering shows two layers of textures on top of each other.
it seems like it is rendering both front anc back face surface.

is there a way to fix that?

please see the attachment for clear understanding

Can you post a piece of the geometry with the material attached?

I saw the pic, I'm asking if we can see an actual piece of geometry with the material attached so we can troubleshoot it in Revit.

You'll have to strip it down probably. But if you edit your post, or start a new one, there will be a button on the lower right that says "go advanced". Hit that and it will open up some more options, one of which is attach a file.

Your expanded metal cutout map didn't come through, but I used one of mine and it rendered as it should. So, I think the map may have something wrong with it. Can you upload the map as well?

The only way to get a single face is using a mass. Otherwise you will always be cutting two surfaces. You could try making it something like 1/16" thick but you are not guaranteed that the cut holes will be aligned...

I have had similar issues and simply made a single faced mass for the steel mesh.

You can align a texture with a model pattern, and you can move a model pattern around as much as you like. Only thing is that in order to be able to see the cutout when aligning it with the model pattern, you need to add the image as a material map as well.
Still, single faced mass is a lot more simple. I'd go with that one if it's a one off.
