Opening a Revit file in 3ds max takes about a week to import

The option to open a Revit file directly in different Autodesk products is great, if the import was a bit quicker. At the moment, opening a Revit file in 3ds max takes about a week. Navisworks takes about 2 days. Anyone experience the same thing? The posted image is a screenshot of a file that I opened 3 days ago.

For now, exporting an FBX or NWC file is the only fast option for medium to large size files.

I find it does take a decent amount of time to open my revit files in max, but I'm talking a full 5-10 minutes. But 2days to a week to open? Something's surely wrong there. Have you tried cleaning up your revit files?

I'll give it a try by cleaning up the file first. Smaller files (30 mb) do open a lot faster though. I'm not sure if file size is also causing this issue.

How big is the file you are opening? I'm trying it now with a 200mb project (3 story, 70,000 SF assisted living) and it's on track to open in about 10 minutes.

It's about 250MB. I've opened it on another computer and it took about 15 minutes which isn't bad. Interestingly enough , the linked files are also transferred.

You might want to clean up errors and geometry in the Revit file. I have linked 330MB+ files into 3DS Max. Do you have a lot of complex furniture? Maybe link that kind of stuff in separately.

In theory, the "Revit Link" is just creating an FBX file and loading it in so it should not take any longer than the FBX export/link process.
