Alternates to Adobe CC Subscription Suite

We are currently in need purchasing updated licenses for our Adobe suite. We currently have RARE perpetual licenses for ye old CS6 suite. However, we have run into some stability issues and compatibility problems when transmitting to clients and consultants. Unfortunately, Adobe in their great wisdom have decided to nix network licenses and perpetual license and exclusively rip everyone off with their subscription model. The rub is that everyone "needs" the software, but not everyone uses it day-to-day. So ~20 user licenses when only about 5-7 people actually use it every day is a very expensive pill to swallow!

This let me to casually looking if there were legit alternatives out there. The core products we use in the suite is: Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. PDFs we use Bluebeam. I came across Serif's Affinity Suite: Photo, Designer, and Publisher (releasing this year). On surface level they appear very equivalent to our needs.

Has anyone else utilized these products? Or other alternatives to the Adobe platform, in a professional environment?

To clarify, we are an architect and interior design firm. So we have to produce a good bit of presentation material and enhance photos/renderings, but will admit its pretty basic/intermediate features that we currently use day-in-day-out in our current Adobe Suite.

    Input or experiences greatly appreciated!

Yes!! That article is what actually sparked the idea of thinking "Wait a minute, who says I have to stick with Adobe..." The Affinity suite isn't actually mentioned at all in the article, but instead praised by many of the commenters at the bottom.

We're in a similar position. We have 1 full suite license for the person that uses it everyday, and three single product licenses that we manually reassign depending on who needs them.

I've been using Gimp at work for my occasional Photoshop equivalent needs (editing render materials mainly, occasional image crops/tints and file conversion) It works well, and has a lot of "how to" information on the internet. I used Inkscape once several years ago, but got Bluebeam shortly after and do basic layout work in that program

I had GIMP and Inkscape for a while, and they are handy and (of course) free. But the MOMENT you have to do real CMYK printing, it's so worth it to just eat the cost of an annual Adobe subscription.

Sent from my Phablet. Please excuse typos... and bad ideas.
