    Bluebeam 2018 is a ****show

This isn't directly related to Revit, but I know a lot of AEC uses Bluebeam Revu (PDF software).

I've been using it for a few years, and as much of an improvement feature-wise over Acrobat (in most ways, and Bluebeam "Studio" is a killer feature), I've found it always just a step above bad shareware as far as performance and bugs go...

But Bluebeam 2018 has been close to unusable at times (and this goes for all the half dozen installs in our small office)... bugs galore, daily crashes, horrendous performance. Open up the same PDFs in Acrobat and they fly.

There have been a couple updates since its release 8 months ago, but actually seem to have made things worse. Bluebeam got rid of the their user forums (obviously they didn't want to deal with all the constant complaints about their sub-par software that they charge $300 a license for), so I'm curious if others have also experienced all the issues we have?

I'm sure everyone else is having a perfect time with it.

Its an absolute f***king disaster, Revu 2018. The only reason i upgraded us to it, is we were having stability issues with Revu 2017 and Studio (it would lock up all the time, trying to Check out PDF's), so we figured we were stuck.

2018... Is an absolute joke of a piece of software.

I wonder, is 2018 Revu Extreme different? I've been using RE for 7 or 8 months with no issues.

Edit: as Aaron posted elsewhere earlier the new UI is a POS though

We have been using 2018 Revu Extreme. I have not heard of any issues.

I like the new UI... Kind of like Steve mentioned, the old UI was rough.

We are using Revu Extreme 2018, on Windows 10. On all of our machines:

    1. The Studio Sign in window "pops up" but never fills itself in, so EVERY DAY we have to CLOSE IT, then click sign in again

    2. Random freezes still happen in Studio. At least in 2018 its better about recovering changed PDF's on the next launch. 2017 basically just said "f**k you, im eating your lunch"

    3. The 2018 Studio Browser being a VIEWPORT is dumb as well. I MUCH preferred it being in a collapsable dockable tab. Sure, i can rip the "browser viewport" off to another monitor, but its a tacky, completely ****** design, and its just dumb. So, the Studio TAB is still a TAB that eats ups space, BEFORE you get in to a project, but then the PROJECT browser opens in a viewport to eat up even more space? I seriously feel like this was designed by an intern whos never used a computer before.

    4. The minimalist UI? Its a POS. I circumnavigated it as best i could by turning on every goddamn toolbar the software has, which has at least made working bearable again.

    5. The bottom NAV bar buttons still jump around so you are playing whack a mole, based on the length of the title of the PDF sheet you are on. How the hell did they completely redesign the UI from 2017, and not manage to fix this bullshit that was so miserable in 2017? Hey! I know! Lets replace everything in the UI to make it terrible, but lets LEAVE THIS ONE PART BECAUSE IT WAS ALREADY TERRIBLE!

The old UI definitely WAS rough. But at least it WAS a UI. I cant even call the new setup a UI. Its just... stupidity with some toolbar options thrown on it.

The new UI looksgreat! Sooo uniform, you can hardly tell one icon from another! /s

Revu 2018 is a hot mess. I'm happily using 2017, and sure, the UI is clunky and a bit childish, like Steve said, but Hey! at least I can tell what I'm clicking on, and tell where one toolbar ended and another began. No problems with Studio on our end, though managing permissions is a bit of a pain. Haven't played with the Studio viewport directly in 2018 yet, but I thought you could make it into a collapsible tab. If you really can't, that's an egregious miscalculation in design.

Have you ever submitted any of this as bug reports? In my experience their support / bug report intake has always been great. They also have a fairly extensive beta program.
