Vertical Dimensioning in Building and Wall Sections and Elevations

    Good Morning.

I have a simple question in regards to vertical dimensioning.

Are you allowed to show vertical dimensions in section view?

We see that horizontal dimensioning is possible and the vertical dimension can be indicated by spot elevations, but our office standard in CAD was to dimension some vertical elements by vertical dimension strings. Please advise.

    Thanks,

    Norbanger

Yes, although the dimension text will remain rotated 90° (parallel to the dimension string.)

If your section is not perpendicular with what you are trying to dimension to it won't work. Also if you have angled elements, such as ramps, you may have to tab until you get the dot node vs a face.

Oh...for some the dot node is not visible...keep tabbing until it seems something is selected but it's not a face line...more than likely you got the endpoint node.

It's also possible that you have Annotation Crop turned on.
If ANY part of your Dimension (the lines or the text) are outside the Annotation Crop, it won't display.
It'll still be there. You just won't see it unless you turn off or stretch out the Annotation Crop boundary.
