    That's what I'm living now.

So what do you do with firms that want you to do work for them? Just give them what they want or do you try to talk them into a "better" way?

It varies by situation. But as a consultant on the outside, its much easier. For instance:

    1. Firm wants a template, i suggest wall types be built like "this."
    2. They say they dont want them like "this," instead they want "that."
    3. I explain to them (once) why i think "this" is better than "that."
    4. After first explanation, if they persist, i give them "that."
    5. Later, if they decide they don't like "that" after all, its an add service, so i don't get worked up or agitated about it.

BUT, i also talk with potential clients early on, about WHAT it is they want. If a firm comes to me and says *we want a template that exactly matches our CAD standards," i'm inclined (and have) told them i am not the person to build such a thing for them, because building a template that doesn't work well, simply for graphics sake, isn't something i'm interesting in having my reputation tied to.

Its much less stress, when you know you wont be responsible for band-aiding all projects in to working "well" once youve documented "hey, i wouldnt do it that way."

But as for which architectural terminology to use, i am fairly neutral. I speak up to a client if i see that changing a term can make their deliverable or quality control process better, but honestly... Whether or not they call it ACT, ACP, APC, or ATC (yes, ive seen all four), it doesnt affect what i am making for them, in most cases. I have BETTER find and replace tools than most people, LOL.

    That's the ticket!

I'm currently dealing with a desire to have elevation tags look like the AutoCAD symbols that came before. You know the one, with the line in the middle that only works for one elevation and that inverts the view/sheet number depending on which way it's pointing? Yep. I have to go through the pain to show them why it's a bad idea. What's funny is they've been using mostly OoTB content for 10 years and never made an effort to change. Now, though, it's important. Go figure.

Unfortunately can;t share anything more fun than 26 Room Separation lines around a square riser with room bounding walls due to confidentiality - Looking forward to see what some of you lot get up to!
