Schedules, reporting parameter using IF/THEN... I think

I am creating a schedule for an apartment building. I have the Suite number as the room number, the Unit Type (example 'UNIT TYPE A"), area, etc. I want to have a field in my schedule that has an integer output for # of bedrooms. I was thinking if I could use a formula that said, if Room Name= (not sure if you can use contains in this) UNIT TYPE A THEn output value is 2, if Room Name=UNIT TYPE C Then output value is 1. I took some programming a long time ago, but clearly forget most of it. Help

    If (room=a,1,if(room=b,2,if(room=c,3,X)))

that formula will return X if room does not equal a,b or c. Have a search for 'Revit everyday formulas'.
