Cool I love gifts to yourself

Meet my new two stage home brew beer kit!! Link here:
    https://www.homebrewhq.com/ProductDe...productID=1064

I've been eyeing this for a while. A friend of mine brews his own beer and a few years ago he made a batch of Belgian Ale Wit (my favorite flavor of beer) and it was awesome. So I went at lunch and bought the kit. My wife and daughter are away all weekend so it may be the perfect time to get it set up and a brew going. It takes about two weeks to brew a batch. Hell, I may get good and open a brewery right next door to my BBQ shack... never know.

Any other home brew guys on the board?

If you ever get to the Pacific Northwest, you will have to try Selkirk Abbey... all of their beers are Belgian Style...
And it's just a couple of miles away from my house...

    BTW, the link doesn't work...

Link works for me, looks like an awesome hangout with awesome beers. Man I love Belgian Ale's and Wit's.

BTW, Have you ever seen The Magnificent Multitude of Beers? I wanna get this printed and framed and hung in my game room.

I usually brew 2-3 batches a year and most of them have turned out pretty well. I'm just finishing up a red ale that I brewed back in March and whenever I get a free weekend I've got all the ingredients for an oatmeal stout that I'd like to try next.
I've heard Belgians can be tricky because the fermentation temperature affects the flavor of the beer a lot more than other styles.

What's stopping you? My kit was $120 tax and all, because I upgraded to the glass bottle and got a few extra ingredients for my first batch. Brewing your own beer would go good with that awesome outdoor entertainment area you have.

Shiner is my go-to beer for local restaurants that don't have a large beer selection.
I'm really more of a Karbach fan, and I even choose restaurants to eat at based on whether they have Karbach or not.
All H-town people must love Karbach. It is known.

Shiner is definitely a staple. Like need4mospd, it's definitely my go-to beer when the good selections are unavailable, but there's not many times you open my fridge and a few Shiner's aren't staring right back 'atcha.
