Hello! My name is Melanie and I am TOTALLY new to Revit. I have played with it for a few weeks now and I still feel a lit overwhelmed and that it is over my head. Please share any tips on learning this program. I am working as an interior designer for a residential and commercial builder. I will be mainly working on restaurants in Revit. Thank you in advanced!

Hi melanie, welcome. Lots to learn. You might find a subscription to lynda.com a wise move. There are many books though i'm not sure about interior design work specifically. I reckon someone would have put one together. With a google account, set yourself up with your youtube home screen to subscribe to reputable channels. There are heaps of expert channels on youtube, and also some pretty poor bad practice youtubers too. That's where subscribing to professional channels comes in. Avoid the crap. Forums like this are a godsend. Amazing the amount of times i have been puzzling over something then done my daily check of the forum only to find the answer in my face! There are also free sites and tutorials, like the revitkid, bimscape and others. For your work it will be necessary to clearly understand materials, assets and management of materials libraries. And rendering workflows. As an interior designer you may well have dived deep into Photoshop, and Revit is similiar in as much as an adage i use goes like this.."the deeper you go, the darker and more wondrous the abyss".. Have fun, remember to breathe.

    Hi everyone,

My name is Miguel, I work for the IT department at a civil engineering company in New Zealand. After being supporting civil engineers all this time, specially the ones who are entitled for drawings, I have found very interesting how the use Revit and also how the same works. So I started to dig in more and decided to dedicate lots of hours in order to learn more about Revit. It's been a big challenge for me as it's not my area. Therefore, I will truly appreciate all support and help all you could provide.

    Cheers,

    Miguel Sierra
