Emailed all of our 17.000+ members, some are responding by mail:

All this over a simple, innocent name! Attorneys! It's no wonder our system and economy is in such despair.
Thanks for letting us know. Seems pretty absurd to go after you for this. What a hassle all around, meanwhile, the lawyers make more money....
Nothing like a slap in the face for promoting THEIR product. Ahhh corporate America. Makes me vomit....
If you can show that "Revit" has become a common name like "Xerox" that might be a successful argument.
Added here anonymously, but want Autodesk Public Relations (who've received a copy of our reply letter), to be able to read what THEIR customers think of the situation.

17.000+ emails to Autodesk Public Relations might make a difference...

    Excellent response, Klaus!

I had to ironically chuckle at Autodesk's line:
The REVIT« mark and associated goodwill...
Well, so much for the goodwill part!

I'm curious as well about what ELSE they feel the need to "protect."
    Would they accept www.rvtforum.com?

    Trademark issue

If Autodesk is only doing this to retain their trademark, why can't they license it to the forum for a dollar. Sites like this actually promote the product!!!

    Here's a few more:

I have always been amazed at corporatations that can't see value in trademark use, and feel that any use in bad infringement. What Revit Forums does for the end user is of great value to the Revit product, and if not for the use of the name in your domain name, I may not have found your forum. The support sites for Revit are really what made me choose to use Revit in our company - we could have chosen another, and almost did.

If there is a petition, or other forms of communication, that can be sent to the appropriate sources, I am will to help in your fight to keep you domain name.

    Best of luck!
What a shame. Autodesk does a **** poor job of helping people with Revit question and issues.

    Good luck.

This is THE best forum for Revit help. All I get from the AUGI forums are smug, elitist answers(if you can seriously call them answers). Keep up the good fight, you all have my total support.

Thanks Dave, but credit goes mostly to Iru69 and Martijn in conjunction with a small team of members and good friends of the forum!

Let's face it, Autodesk is the 500 lb gorilla in the room. How about a contest to select a new domain name.
