    Creating New Material

I've searched, but upon skimming the results, didn't really find what I'm looking for. Granted, I didn't look very hard.

So, here's my issue. I want to create a new material from an old one, like I've done a million times before. So, I duplicate a material, rename it, and change the image file for the appearance asset.

Well, apparently, this is the wrong procedure. Once I change the appearance asset, it changes BOTH materials to the new image file. So, if I have cream split face block, and I want to make tan, they are both now tan. :banghead:

How do I create a totally new appearance asset? I've found some stuff online, but alas, IT has everything so locked down I can't read blogs or go to youtube for a quick training video.

So, someone, please hook a brotha up and explain this to me.

In the material editor for the material you want to change, right click on the appearance asset, and select duplicate (or replace with another existing asset). Now each material will have a different appearance asset.

Don't feel bad, they didn't make the new Material UI very easy to follow. I hate too many pop up messages, but maybe when you duplicate a material you should have a choice "duplicate with existing asset" or duplicate and just duplicate assumes you want a new asset too.
