    Freeze View

I recall a while back a program that would take your live view and create a drafting view based on it, so that if something changed in your model it would not affect your view.

Does anyone recall what this add-in is?

That is Freeze Drawings that comes with Extensions for Revit from the Subscription Centre which end up in addins / Extenstions Manager / Freeze Drawings

If it ain't broke, fix it till it is.

Be aware, Freeze Drawings will IMPORT a DWG, which is usually very bad juju. I prefer to use Save to Project As Image, but there are limitations on pixel density (only 150 dpi results in a scaled image) and reported scale (everything reports as full scale, but is in fact the same scale as the originating view). These two bugs can be worked around, until Autodesk gets around to fixing them. It is worth comparing this to Freeze Drawings and decide which works better in your circumstances, but my preference is to avoid any kludge tool provided by Autodesk that automates a task staff have been told to NEVER do.

I found the original thread on this and read that...I thought it just made it with DL in Revit...the DWG thing kinda sucks...referenced views don't update...and many other things...I also would not recommend, I thought it would be better than it is...

It is as it says "Freeze Drawing" frozen in time, forever, definatly not Revit like.

Yes it should, that's the whole idea. IF I wanted to freeze a view, there cannot be any updating of references. Or any other stuff for that matter, because this would mean it's not frozen. How can I rely on something to be frozen, if it changes? I want it dumb, rigid and non-editable.

You need to be using ACAD! lol

Sorry, couldn't resist. Go ahead with your discussion..............

I want it to be frozen so that when the model changes slightly it does not mess everything up, but if I move a detail to a different sheet or update the number it should update...

I think it should be dumbed down to the point of a drafting view but not so unintelligent it is more CAD than Revit. Can you really say that a detail taken from one of these views will absolutly stay on the sheet it is on or that the detail number for it will not change?

There is a huge difference between the unintelligence inside a DWG and the unintelligence of a drafting view and I feel that it should be the latter or we should just be using CAD in the first place.
