    Incorrect Schema

    I just tried to open a model I was working on earlier today and got a message stating that the file has an incorrect schema.

    First - what is a schema?
    Second - what makes it incorrect?
    Third - fixable?
    Revit for newbies - A starting point for RFO

      Not that I know of. We aren't using RS or worksharing, it was a file I started this morning and reopened this afternoon. I was able to open up one of the backup files and save over it. The .rvt file was only 12kb when it should have been 30mb

        Incorrect schema normally happens when copying / saving files due to network / hardware drop out / errors.
        Typically this shows up when part of the file is lost while it is being copied i.e. a new local file is being created, If you didn’t create a new local it tends to suggest that something is corrupt in the file itself.
        Only solution I know of is to create a new local file.

          This is pretty much right on. Incorrect schematic is in reference to the database schema a Revit file uses.

            Thanks. As I mentioned I was able to open a backup and go from there and didn't lose too much info.

              On second thought now I'm slightly worried. I started looking through some other directories and there are a number of files that are reporting 0kb values that shouldn't. I realize that this goes beyond Revit (although most of the files are in jobs that are done in Revit) - but does anyone have any thoughts on where to begin troubleshooting? :banghead: Some of these files haven't been accessed since last week...

                I am having the same problems. It is impossible for me to save anything in Revit 13.

                I'll even open a new revit project- architctural, structural, or MEB template. Then, to test, I save that file. The file will save, Revit crashes, and and "incorrect schema" error pops up. When I try to open the saved file, it says incorrect schema.

                I uninstalled every autodesk product, then reinstalled Revit 13. The same error still occurs.

                What is going on???

                    It might be worth posting computer specs, if youre having this problem. Drew is correct, that Incorrect Schema happens if the file doesnt successfully save, even though it successfully created a partial file. Ive seen it with network issues, someone opening a file from Dropbox or Box.net before it fully downloaded, or after a save that had a crash during it.

                    But, thats not the issue, if its crashing WHILE saving. Its probably a RESULT of crashing while saving, so you need to isolate the cause.

                    We have found that- for some reason- a ton of computers that we had that were sufficient to run 2012, are not sufficient to run 2013. They were newer laptops, but they were laptops bought with a lower end video card. The video card cards revit to crash before we even get a file opened, to navigate in.

                    Not saying thats happening for you, but its worth looking in to everything involved in the situation, until you can narrow it down to one variable.
