Hide the lines around a masking region

Can I hide the lines around my masking region so that my text just masks out the geometry behind & does not introduce more lines to clutter up my drawing.

Did you try using invisible lines to sketch your masking region?

If you want to mask text out, you might want to look into the text properties and change it to opaque. This will mask anything behind the text.
Can do the same with dimension styles.

Summer yeah. San Luis Obispo, above San Francisco I think?? We normally have a climate like San Diego (love it down there) but have had so much rain this summer that stuff is going mouldy like in the tropics. The dry heat is so much easier to handle than humid & 35deg c

south of SF actually. About 1/2 way between SF and LA. It seems everyone is getting very strange weather this year. We normally only get about 10" of rain a year (July 1 to June 30) but got over 15" in Dec/Jan. Then basically none in Feb, usually our wettest month and now we're sort of back to normal with a storm arriving just occasionally and nothing to heavy or over the top. At least I'm not in the east of US where the snow this year has been bad
