    Material changing in Type Properties

This is so obvious but never occurred to me until now - so for anyone else as slow as me on spotting the obvious... ;-)

When changing multiple materials in a family Type Properties dialogue, for years I have hit the hidden button on the right of the material name box, gone to the Materials editor, selected the new material, hit OK, back to the Type Properties dialogue to repeat for the next one, and so on...

In fact clicking on the material name in Family Type Properties often automatically highlights it so that it can be Ctrl+C copied to the clipboard and then clicking in another material name box highlights that allowing Ctrl+V to immediately overwrite it and Revit is quite happy to just have the name put in without going into the Material editor.

    It's the little things...

    cheers,
    William

When you click in a Materials and Finishes parameter box, Revit automatically highlights the material name.

If you want to duplicate that material in other Material parameters you can just use Ctrl+C to copy,

then click in another Material parameter box so that Revit highlights the name again and use Ctrl+V to paste,

            this replaces the material name.

Simple really - hope that explains it.

I had known you could type in the exact name of the material, but never went the extra step of that logical progression. Thanks for the tip.
you are right, it is the small things. Problem is I will probably forget this like all the other great tips around.

But not as long as it did in r2013 ?

To digress, what I find odd is that the little material previews (or at least some of them?) seem to reload every time you open the materials dialogue via Paint or Materials, rather than be cached... but I guess it keeps the memory required modest.
