    Generic Annotations

Ok I think I am doing something wrong. Can I not make a anno family that has the triangular grips associated to a length instance parameter?

I am trying to make a dummy sections cut line, with an instance text parameter for the number and instance length parameter for the line...

I dont really want to make this family, but I have to give examples.... any ideas?

My understanding is as per yours - you cant do it "out of the box" - BUT you can nest the annotation family into a Detail Component familiy to do what you require.
Since its an annotation family it will resize labels/text/ fake detail callout circle etc etc, since its a detail component you will have the required grips.
Actually, in your case I would use the line-based detail component with the annotation family nested in

This would give me the length instance parameter I am needing, but what about the text parameter?

You´re almost there... you just need to create the "number" parameter in the Key Plan Section Cut.rfa and link that parameter to the "number" parameter in the head family

          Hi Alex
Got this to work OK. Did have to go back and link the (Head) Number text parameter and Number parameter after nesting. With Line based families you only get the blue dot's and not triangles, sorry ! but the dots are there and it works and looks just like a real section line. I did change the units to metric I can't read "Chinese"
Good luck trying to get the anno to stay vertical !
          Ahh Wish List item...

Nope figured it out. The Generic Anno label has to be set to instance.
