The Best Posts of the Month of February 2011. Please nominate 3

The Best Posts of the Month

Yesterday was the last day of February 2010. This is a new issue of The Best Posts of the Month. This is an idea that we started in January and hope to continue doing through the whole year. This activity is open in the Out There forum during the first 5 days of each month.

The objectives of this idea are:

    1) To recognize those solutions/tutorials/tips/tricks, etc., that in your opinion were the most helpful, interesting, etc., during the month that just ended. To recognize and praise good posting, good attitude, and good forum spirit.

    2) To stimulate all those users who seldom or never post, who have a lot to contribute but just haven´t broken the ice yet, to start contributing to the community, and hopefully have their posts recognized on the honor list the next time.

    3) To collect all the best solutions on a "sticky" thread with a list with links, which will serve as a summary for all of us to quickly and easily review and find all those posts that were the most interesting and helpful during that month.

    How does it work?

    1. On the first day of each month, like today, we are going to announce that elections for the Best Posts of the Month are open. Nomination time will close at the end of the 3rd day of each month.

    2. How do you make the nominations? Basically you post a reply to this message saying something like this:

My nominees for the best 3 posts of the month are:
    a) post # 15 in thread "How to do..." (a text with link would be even better), by "Username". "I think it was an excellent solution".
    b) ...similar...
    c) ...similar...

How are the best 3 posts finally elected?

After the 3rd day, the nominations will be counted manually, and the administrators will create a post with a poll, for users to vote for the best 3 posts. The poll will be open from day 4th until day 5th of each month, and then the results will be announced and posted on the Tutorials subforum, and on our forum's blog the day after.

    Rules for nominating a post

    * You should include the reply # of the post that you want to nominate, and the name and or name/link of the thread. Comments are optional.
    * The post that you nominate must have been posted during the month being reviewed. Each post has a date. The post that originated the thread may have been dated in a previous month, but not the reply being nominated.
    * You should not nominate your own post(s).
    * Ït is OK to nominate more than one post from the same author.

If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to post them here.

Elections for The Best Posts of the Month of February 2011 are now open until March 3rd. During March 4th and March 5th we will have a poll open to define the winners.

Comments about some nominations so far:

For Julien : please edit your nominees, replacing the third one. That post is from January, and cannot be included in February´s best posts.

For Juan Carlos : please identify a post # in particular in those threads. Just the name of the thread is not enough.

                These are my nominees:

Reply # 69 in "Challenge: a parametric corner piece" by Munkholm
For creating a clock in a very original way, without angular dimensions. I have asked my two consultants (my pillow and my shower) and they still haven't told me the secret.

Reply # 4 in "Curtain wall pair of doors - center offset".
For providing us with an easy solution for a problem that we had been looking for hours everywhere else but there, at the center reference plane.

Reply # 1 in "Etiquette et paramètres" (Labels and parameters) by JBenoit44 (Julien Benoit)
For providing nice illustrations so that we can understand the tips he's talking about even if we can't understand the language, and for keeping the French forum alive with translations of the interesting tips provided in the English-speaking forums.

                    RFO Style Guide
The whole thing. Hard to be original here but, for Klaus for having the balls to take this on. A huge undertaking.

                    Casework
Post #11 for Aarons input and insight into the creation of casement families (and all other input he has had in the creation of the Style Guide, just an endless source of information)
                    Mark Balsom
