    Revit Linked Model Disappearing

Okay, this is the ken-under-arm (yuk, stale plastic...)

I have a Structural Model (RST), Steel Fabrication model (RST from Tekla via IFC), Electrical, Mechanical, and Hydraulic models (RME), a Facade model (RAC) and I am left with coordination and Architectural interior partitioning in RAC. All links are on their own worksets.

The issue I face is that of disappearing Revit Model Links.

I have moved form Head office to Site. We have a Central Server at Head Office, and a local server. My central files are stored on the central server as others require access, mainly for viewing purposes.

I have found that my Linked Structural Fabrication Model (the only link loaded, and only workset active) randomly disappears, and requires reloading through the links manager. It is also always missing when I open the project. This is incredibly frustrating, especially when the pipe to head office is about 10Mbps down and 1Mbps up. I created a new workset, and linked in my local file instead to reduce loading times, which has sped up the reload issue, though not resolved it.

My manager at head office can open the file and the link is there....

Can anyone shed any light on this?
I used to be high on life, until I realised it was cut with Morons.

When opening project, don't open Central File. Open Local file every time and then save to Central. Structural link will still be there.

^^ This is not recommended and can be problematic.

The file is still listed in Manage Links, just not visible/loaded into your session? If the link is looking for the home office server's location and you've pointed it toward your site server then it seems to me that you're passing back and forth a path that can't be reconciled as quickly. Someone else may not be loading the link's workset and then your session, assuming you don't use Specify, is getting whatever the last worksets that were opened happen to be.

Are you using Revit Server for this offsite location? If not latency is not your friend obviously and linked files take an age to load. If home office is not going to work on the project file I'd consider taking it all to site and posting viewing only copies for the home office to look at.

Hahahaha, I think that project must not only have been built by now, but it might even be up for refurbishment . . .

Would you report back after over eight years without a response?
