Have added system and seek information to this category, which is now open for discussion.

BTW, stripped the templates down to just two... anyone knows why there´s a separate template for linear and spot lightings ?

I'm not totally sure but if I had to guess it would be because spot lights and linear lights have different ies distribution webs, the spot being like the typical cone shape and the linear light having more of a half-chamfered box or elongated dome hope this makes sense.

I think if you activate the light cone in the VG then you can see the difference

Yes, but activating the light cone also let´s you change to i.e. spot or linear...

Then maybe just to avoid the change for the newbies

Been looking at my current light fixtures, and historical I´ve pretty much only have had the need for material parameters.

                    Material
                    lamp shade (Shared, Type, Material)
                    reflector (Shared, Type, Material)
                    cord (Shared, Type, Material)
                    mounting track (Shared, Type, Material)
                    chandelier (Shared, Type, Material)

And on occasions I´ve used something like this:

                    Dimensions:
                    shade diameter (Shared, Type, Length)
distance from host (Shared, Instance, Length) mainly used for pendants
tilt angle (Shared, Instance, Angle) used to drive the direction of a tilt-able spot

                    Thoughts ?
