    Search options

    For this forum to be a great wealth of information we have to have a great search function. So here is my wishlist for searchfunction

    First I would like to be able search within a post.
    I was searching for errors with aubench it only sad that my keywords were in the "New AUBench" post. This is still a 22 page long post. I would like to be able to only see the posts that contain my keywords.

    Second and i don't know if vBulletin supports this.

    I would to be able to search for "set" and "3gb" now it is an or search. I only want to see posts that contains 3gb and set

    Also a NOT parameter would be great

    First, we already have this feature
    From the forum FAQ: You can also search for individual posts within a thread by clicking on the 'Search this Thread' link at the top of any thread view page. (Also see attachment)

    Second, only words of min. 4 characters can be searched for, this is to reduce the size of the DB, and to keep the site performing well.
    There´s no "and" query to the searches, but if the search query is for multiple words, this number will be added to the score for the item each time another word from the query is found. Thus the search result with several matched words will rank higher.

    Sorry, there´s no "not" query...

      Re: The 4 character limit - We can add words to be included despite character limit, i.e. "set" and "3gb"

      Just let me know what words you want added

          We do have both "and" & "not" - It´s just undocumented (was vB developed by ADesk?)

          Examples:
          • Constraints AND Explode
          • Constraints NOT Explode


          (and + not do NOT have to be uppercase)

            Wildcards are also enabled: Use a star (*) in searches to match partial words? (Eg: 'bu*' matches 'bug' and '*bu*' matches 'vBulletin').

                Not CAD, Not DWG, BIM, RAC, MEP, RST, 3D, 4D, CPU, RAM, API, NET, SDK, 3GB... what else ?

                  you can search for 3 chars aslong as you add quotes.
                  "3gb"
