    Properties Dialog Thumbnail Preview missing

Another bug I have been dealing with for a while, is the missing thumbnail previews in the properties pallette for detail components in Revit 2011

I am aware of this information Revit Clinic-Thumbnail Previews and Locked Files in Windows Explorer
but this is for windows explorer where I am not having the problem

Everything works fine for model elements, but not detail components (see image below)

Are there any other fixes for this? Or should I just put everything in Family Browser:thumbsup:

    Hi Ben,

I might be wrong, but I cannot remember ever seeing detail item thumbnail in the properties dialog at any time. With a quick check, none of the currently loaded items show up as a thumbnail.

My memory **** big time, so I can´t tell you how it worked prior to, well... yesterday But just checked, and they are not showing here either... not sure if they ever have - but am pretty sure that I havn´t missed them, since I´ve never noticed that they are in fact missing

No, not those ones. System families and 3d families all have a thumbnail view in the property palette. It is the detail items like a 2d drawing of a joist hanger etc which is in question.

No, I bet that we all see thumbnails for system families like that - The OP was referring to Detail Components

            Edit: Ian types faster

I am the same, I remember with the ribbon coming into Revit 2010 wondering why only model items get a thumbnail, but annotation/detail items get a blank box. And then it takes someone new to Revit to ask why they dont appear.:banghead:

uh, I do my detail items in ... uh, that other program. Going down the hall and hiding out now :hide:

I see what you mean though. I popped in a metal deck detail component in the model I was working on and no thumbnail preview. I don't quite understand why it would be missed though. I was just looking at the metal deck. I know what it looks like. Why do I need a thumbnail preview in the Properties Palette?
