    Curtain Wall Mullion Mitering

How can I make to horizontal mullions in a curtain wall miter together rather than butt? The wiki states that it's possible with a join but I can't get the join tool to select either the mullions or walls.

You could use a custom corner mullion.

you don't need any kind of corner mullion to make your horizontals miter at the corners. But you either need to create your curtain walls using the Chain option on the Option bar or know where to put them to make the reference end of each curtain wall be in the correct location to create the miter.

I have this issue all the time
You just need to play around with the Mullion Controls for a while

hm. I tinkered for a bit and figured out the horizontal join but it tanks my butt glazing at the corner =/

I did just find this post and found a reasonable solution for the time being to everything. Not sure how I missed it the first time through when searching :hide:

yep, Alf's method of using custom curtain panels with mitered corners is the method I now use. For anyone who has to schedule curtain panel (glass) sizes at corners it must be done with a formula in the schedule as normal insulated glass at corners is not mitered but has offset glass edges.

So I have a bit of a related problem. My curtain wall mullions are mitering, but only if the wall is longer than 2'-0" I a wall is below that length it squares off the mullion. The other leg still miters which makes a weird corner condition. I am using a custom profile for my mullions, standard mullions seem to work. Any idea on why the length of the wall is casing this behavior? (Revit 2014 UR3)

I've run into this in the past and it seems to be a system depth vs DLO width issue. Revit get confused if the system depth exceeds the width from the adjacent face of system to the inside of the first mullion from the corner. Can we get a screenshot of your corner working and not working?

Here is the screen shot. As you can see the walls are trying to miter, but the <2' walls square off.Click image for larger version

and the short walls have Join Allowed set? And, all of the walls are the same type? Were the four walls made with the Chain option checked? Other than that I'd have to get a file with the walls included to troubleshoot
