    really no solution?

last try before giving up -> how to print halftone text to halftone for B/W output?

    #2
well, i'll use thin font as workaround for now, at least it'll look like halftone after printing out.

Do you have Halftone set to print black? We set ours to colors, and set colors to print as colors. Works fine.

yes Aaron, because we want B/W output, not colors.

Yeah, but when you're in a Hidden Line view with all objects shown as black and white lines, you can print to color anyway without affecting it. I print ALL my sheets to color, since my logo is in color. But all my views come out B/W since they are setup as Hidden Line and all categories have black surface and pattern lines applied. I have sheets which mix B/W with colored views... I really don't see the problem. Am I missing something?

What you need to do is create plot views with all categories set to black lines for both surface and cut lines/patterns. Then set your text to grey and it should work perfectly.

i just tested both RAC and RMEP, use default template, add text & turn to grey, print to blacklines, text will still be black, unless you use greyscale or color which are not desired.

But why is the color not desired??? The point is that you don't try to print text to grey with B/W. You should set all your plotviews to B/W and text to grey and THEN print to color

OK, i got it -> turn everything color into B/W first, then print to color instead of blacklines, right?
but it will need quite extra work, because all our symbols are in color already, the reason we need grey text is only for room name (tag) which should be the same as linked arch model -> halftoned.

well, i'll stick w/ thin font workaround for now, seems much easy than ..., unless there's quick / easy way to temporarily turn colors to B/W and reverse.

by the way, what do you mean "plotviews"? sounds like AutoC*, i assume it's just normal Revit view or sheet, right?

Be easier just to keep everything black....that way if you halftone something they are gray...

But you print everything black right? So that's a good reason to start working with print views and work views. You can work in color, and setup some view templates for your print views to override everything to black lines.
It's a one time setup, then you're done.
