    Pile Shared Parameter

    Guys

I want to add a shared parameter to a pile. Simples, I have created the shared paraemeter and as Its a variable parameter I have made it an instance parameter.

Now, when I load that into my project (via a pilecap family) I cannnot edit it, i.e it is greyed out? If I make it a type parameter I can add information to it, however not all the pile are of the same information.

    Anyone help?

When you add the SP to the project are you selecting it as instance and not type?

Since the shared parameter is added in the family itself, does he really need to add it to the project?
Right after loading it he should already be able to edit the parameter via the family properties isn't?

Sure.... but better practice it to use a SP. Plus the OP talks about a SP so he more than likely is trying to schedule the parameter. He more than likely added the SP as a type parameter for structural foundation and not a instance parameter when adding the SP to the project. I come to this conclusion because he states that the SP works for Type and not for Instance.

If he wanted to add that shared parameter to every foundation family, I would totally agree with your point Alex
But the OP talks about a pile family... If he wants, he could add the shared parameter only in the pile family. He wouldn't have to deal with a shared in the non-concerned families.
          We should ask him
