    "Flat" views of curved objects

    Here's a link to a good explanation:

    buildz: Arc wall flattener

This has been a hot topic in some recent threads about using Parts on curved walls, and Dividing them using an "elevation" view.

Aaron correctly points out the problems with that approach.

Zak's video shows a cool way to do it correctly using AC's.

A good analogy is the label for a can of beer. It has to be created "flat", but then appear correctly when wrapped around a curved surface.

He shows a cool way to unroll an elevation. Still doesnt help if the elevation you unroll is done wrong.
