Problem with type selector wall properties

Quite new to revit and just got it on my home computer, when i go to change the wall properties, from a basic wall to a exterior - bick and mcu on mtl stud for example, when i click the drop down menu on the type selector, all of the option for different wall types are not available, and the only options i get is basic, curtain and stacked wall. how do i get the detailed wall properties available to select?
    Many thanks

Which template are you using? I don't think the default template has much in it.

When you start a new project you generally get a pop-up asking to select a template. If you select no template your type selector will look like the image I attached.

If this is the case try opening a new file. Click on the big R, go to new, project and you should get a popup asking about what template you want to use. See the 2nd attachment. Pick the default.rte file and you should be good to go.
