    RST Structural Usage

    We have some a set of structural joists in our project and the line type shown is dependent on its structural usage. One of them is a solid line with two breaks every 10' or so. So it looks sorta like

    --------------------- - ---------------------- - ----------------

    (where the smaller breaks are non existent) This works most of the time except when we give the joist an end offset, when we do that the line looks solid...

    Any suggestions? I have heard that this is a problem that has been noticed before, but I can not find any info on it.

    are you talking about K-Series joists?

      That is how we have done that...and it works well for solid lines but for dashed lines, there are paticular times when the dashes disapear.

        The default setting for the OOTB family you are talking about is set to symbolic representation of "From Family" is that how you are using the family? Have you defined a new model line for coarse view "Defined by instance", I also notice the OOTB one doesnt have a symbolic/model line, but relies on the web rods

        I would add the model line for coarse view, and control it with either the Joist model category or a filter if it is more specific to particular joists

          You sloped the beam, so the line is now sloped. Depending on the degree of slope the gaps in the line will get smaller and the whole line appear solid. You can see the same effect in a 3D view.

              What do you do when the beam is under a slab in coarse? When it is 'defined by instance' in the family, it does not change the linetype to hidden?
