Good Rule of thumb for Linking Arch Files

Anyone out there have a good rule of thumb for making MEP content show up nicely on Linked Arch file. When we go to plot and click on replace halftones with thin lines everything looks to be same color. If we do not click this then the arch files looks like a bunch of shaded dots.
Any one with any advice out there. Thanks

why use replace halftones with thin lines? it's the whole point leaving arch as halftone!

That is what i am trying to see what others are doing out there. If we do not click the replace lines then the linked file prints out like a bunch of dots and very light.
I am just trying to see what industry standard might be.

Change your halftone/overlay settings under Options....your line weight may be too light...Else your printer is on its way out the door (that is what happened to our Xerox...)
