    Anchor Bolt Family Help

I'm trying to convert the OOTB anchor bolt family to an all thread anchor bolt family with leveling nuts. I have 2 issues:

    1. Can somone look at the bottom nut for me? I copied the nut on top that was in the original family, and I'm trying to figure out the constraints that they have set. My nut will not flex properly between family types. Change it to a 1 1/2" diameter and you'll see what I mean. I can't figure it out.

    2. The bolt shows threads on top. Since this will be an all thread bolt, do you think I need to show the threads all the way down? It seems like it would just plot solid black because of the density of the threads. If it should be done that way, how would I do it and still have it flex? I'd need the threads to array as the length changes.

    Thanks in advance.

Okay, I got all but 3 radii to work. I have no clue why one works but the other 3 don't.

***EDIT***, okay it works now. I noticed there was a little line on top of the washer at each radius. I added that little line, and it allowed me to lock the midpoint of the radius to the line (it wouldn't let me do it to the RP though). So that's fixed.

Anybody want to weigh in on #2?

I would not recomend showing all thread. This is one of those things thats not needed to convey to the builder what to use. I completly removed all theads from all my my bolts. Its usless clutter that loads up your family and prints as a black blob.

The way these bolts are built is not completly accurate. It you look closely in the OOTB bolt you will see that the nut is controled by constraints ("F" constraints). These constraints arnt exactly centerted on the shaft, notice where the EQ dims are on either side of the head. This is what allows it to grow I think.

Also keep an eye on your RP properties.

Take a look at my bolt family. I learned a lot making it.

looks like the arcs arnt locked to the line.

Yep, I figured that out right after I posted. lol

I'll check out your bolt family.........and........well.......probably steal it! lol

Is that family in RAC?? It won't open for me. I get an error that says "Attempted to access L_A490 Bolts_Side.rfa past its end". WTF does that mean?? lol

It's in rst but should work fine in any version of revit. Try downloading it again.

                  Hahaha thanks.
It also has a visibility switch for the washer.
