    Roof - Dutch Gable

    Guys,

I'm having real troubles trying to figure out how to produce a Dutch Gable (half hip, half gable roof).

Can anyone please give me some tips?

    Thanks

You have to do as 2 roofs.
1st roof set cutoff height. see image 1
2nd roof set properties "base height offset" to same as cutoff height, use pick line and pick edges of roof at cutoff height and lock. Set desired line to "not" define slope (gable) join geometry, all done.
There are other cheat ways but all use 2 roofs and join geometry, but this is easiest to explain.

O.K couldn't resist. Here is a file with example of method above and couple of others
Just select both parts of each roof, edit, and you will understand.

I have done this, but when I go to join the two roofs together, it won't join them. There is no error message, it simply selects the second roof and then does nothing, it goes back to asking me to pick the first object, and then it won't let me select the second roof at all.

Ensure that they are exactly the same roof types you are using (or the same material) and also that they are exactly co-planar: if the join is .5mm out, there will be a line
